Toriba stands on the western side of the River Sormaros, Nareikk's second-biggest river, which separates the densely-populated east of Nareikk form the sparsely-populated west. Toriba is the northernmost of the three villages in the triangle, connected to Hanasae and Marann by road, and also has a road running north, eventually joining with main roads going to Brimsail.
Due to its isolation, Toriba, like all of the trading villages, is out of the way and poorly guarded by the Army of Nareikk. However, its proxemity and contribution to the trading triangle makes it self-sufficient, and Toriba does not depend on supplies from elsewhere, although trade is conducted with places like Overdain at times.
Toriba is perhaps the most important of the three villages due to its possession of a market, which all the others lack. Toriba is where the majority of the trade is conducted within the triangle, and the other two rely heavily on it because of this.
Role in the Book Edit
In Violet Sword Blade, Toriba is mentioned several times. When the Danethan Military invades Nareikk through the Narzama Mountains, Toriba and the other villages in the trading triangle, including Hanasae, Mazzek Rettensauth's hometown, are destroyed. Scouts are dispatched to attempt to deliver messages to Overdain and the Kazdriel settlement of Jadina, across the River Sormaros, though in taking Mazzek with them, the messengers were slowed in their progress and their messages were delivered to Overdain too late; it fell under Danethan control just over a week later, the final stroke in the Danethan occupation of the west side of the Sormaros. Toriba's charred remains were never rebuilt, and remained dilapidated for years.
